New Student for the Day

Today we had a visitor in our classroom for the entire day.  She was very quiet and actually slept alot.  Our new friend was ........Sharla,  she is Myles Wheeler's pet rat.  Yes,  that is right, a pet rat.  Ms. Wheeler came to our classroom and gave us a study on domesticated rats. The children LOVED having her and observed with their eyes all day long.  There was no touching!  (except for Myles and his mother)  Actually, Sharla was kind of fun to have in class.  She was a very good student, she stayed in her own spot, and was very quiet! ;) Here are some pictures of Sharla being introduced to everyone.

MUSIC on Tuesdays

On Tuesdays we go to music.  Today Mrs. Blair taught the silent beat.  When I went to pick up the class they had something to show me.  Here was the surprise......

3D shapes

  Last week we learned about 3D shapes and their attributes.  Our homework was to bring in a 3D shape that you could find in your pantry or kitchen. We took all of those objects and sorted, graphed and then recorded the information. Here are some pictures...

Off to a great start...

This week was short, but lots of learning went on.  We are starting to learn about 3D shapes in math.  For homework, each student had to bring in an object from their pantry, we sorted them by 3D shape.  We are going to do a lesson with all of our 3D shapes in math next week.  In science we have continued our learning of rocks, and in social studies we are learning about different kinds of homes.  Also, report cards went home.  I can't believe our 1st semester is over, we are excited for this 2nd semester.  Our 100th day of school is just around the corner..(Feb. 1)  WOW! 

Happy New Year

In with the new and out with the old. What a great way to start our year, in our new school. I'm excited to see what the new year will bring. My hope for you is a year full of love, good health, and happiness! We have lots to look forward to in 2012. In February, we will have our open house for the community and our library dedication. Also, that same evening we will have a family fun night. Please make plans to join us! In kindergarten we will have a play performance, valentines party, a field trip, rodeo day, and go western day. Lots of fun ahead.
